May brings many things. The return of the hummingbirds followed by the blooming of the lilacs are the most significant to me. I saw lilacs all over today while driving at lower elevations. The lilacs are entirely yours. All the lilacs in the world, for as long as I have memory, will belong to you. Seeing them stirs me. The scent brings surprise intoxication followed immediately by a knife. The day will come when the lilacs once again belong only to themselves.
